Description

Wild Berry Bread Pudding Drizzled with Orange Sauce is a delicious dessert that combines the richness of bread pudding with the freshness of wild berries and a zesty orange sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups of day-old bread, cubed (such as brioche or challah)
  • 2 cups of mixed wild berries (fresh or frozen)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/4 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Baking Dish: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Combine Bread and Berries: In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and mixed wild berries. Gently toss to combine.
  4. Make the Custard Mixture: In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, salt, orange zest, and orange juice until well blended.
  5. Combine Mixtures: Pour the custard mixture over the bread and berries, ensuring all the bread is soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
  6. Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  7. Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
  8. Cool Slightly: Remove from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
  9. Prepare the Orange Sauce: While the pudding is cooling, combine powdered sugar and orange juice in a small bowl. Whisk until smooth.
  10. Drizzle and Serve: Serve the warm bread pudding drizzled with the orange sauce.
