Description

Warm Caramel Bread Pudding is a rich and comforting dessert that features soft bread soaked in a creamy custard and topped with warm caramel sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups of day-old bread, cubed (French or brioche works best)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and melted butter. Toss until the bread is well coated.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the buttered bread, ensuring all the bread cubes are soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
  5. Spread the soaked bread mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until the pudding is set and lightly golden on top.
  7. Remove the baking dish from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes.
  8. Before serving, generously drizzle warm caramel sauce over the top of the bread pudding.

Notes

  • This recipe works best with stale bread.
  • You can use store-bought caramel sauce for convenience.
