Description
Warm Caramel Bread Pudding is a rich and comforting dessert that features soft bread soaked in a creamy custard and topped with warm caramel sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 10 cups of day-old bread, cubed (French or brioche works best)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread and melted butter. Toss until the bread is well coated.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the buttered bread, ensuring all the bread cubes are soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
- Spread the soaked bread mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until the pudding is set and lightly golden on top.
- Remove the baking dish from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes.
- Before serving, generously drizzle warm caramel sauce over the top of the bread pudding.
Notes
- This recipe works best with stale bread.
- You can use store-bought caramel sauce for convenience.
- Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.
