Classic homemade peanut butter cookies that are warm, nutty, and crackled on top, combining rich flavor and a perfect chewy texture.

- 240 g (1 cup) creamy natural peanut butter, room temperature
- 113 g (1/2 cup / 1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar
- 100 g (1/2 cup) packed light brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 large egg yolk
- 5 ml (1 tsp) vanilla extract
- 300 g (2 1/4 cups) all-purpose flour
- 5 g (1 tsp) baking soda
- 3 g (1/2 tsp) fine sea salt
- 150 g (1 cup) chocolate chips or chopped roasted peanuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream butter with granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy.
- Add peanut butter, egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract; mix until smooth.
- Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl, then whisk together.
- Fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Scoop dough into balls, spacing them apart, and chill for 15–30 minutes.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set and centers are slightly soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
- Repeat the baking process with remaining dough.
Notes
For softer cookies, increase brown sugar. For crispier, use more granulated sugar. Can freeze uncooked dough for later baking.
