Description
Tasty Banana Bread Pudding is an incredible dessert that combines ripe bananas and day-old bread into a delicious pudding.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 ripe bananas, mashed
- 6 slices of day-old bread, torn into pieces (preferably brioche or challah)
- 2 cups whole milk
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
- Whipped cream, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish (about 9×9 inches).
- Prepare the Bread: In a large mixing bowl, combine the torn pieces of bread and set aside.
- Mix the Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas, milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well blended.
- Combine Mixtures: Pour the banana mixture over the torn bread. Gently fold to combine, ensuring all the bread is soaked in the custard.
- Add Optional Ingredients: If desired, fold in the raisins or chocolate chips for an extra layer of flavor.
- Transfer to Baking Dish: Pour the bread and custard mixture into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Once baked, remove the pudding from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
- Serve: Cut into squares and serve warm, optionally topped with whipped cream.
