Description

Spiderweb Pizza Bites are a fun and easy Halloween-themed snack. These cheesy bites feature a decorative spiderweb made from string cheese and olive spiders, perfect for parties or a festive treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent dough sheet or mini pitas
  • 1/3 cup smooth pizza sauce (approximately)
  • 1/2 cup string mozzarella, pulled into thin strands
  • 6 large black olives, halved for bodies and sliced for legs
  • Optional: Shredded mozzarella for base sprinkle
  • Optional: Garlic powder or garlic butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350–400°F, depending on your chosen base, to ensure a quick melt and light browning.
  2. If using crescent dough, seal any perforations and punch out 2–3 inch rounds. Place these rounds on a baking sheet.
  3. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over each round, ensuring it doesn’t bleed and the base remains crisp.
  4. Create the spiderweb by arranging the thin mozzarella strands in a starburst pattern, then add two concentric rings.
  5. Bake for 10–12 minutes for crescent rounds, or until the cheese is melted and the edges are golden. Adjust time for other bases like crackers or mini pitas.
  6. While the bites bake, prepare the olive spiders: use halved olives for heads and bodies, and slice additional olive halves for legs.
  7. Once the initial bake is complete, carefully place one olive head and body onto each bite, then arrange 6–8 leg slices snugly around the body.
  8. Return the bites to the oven for an additional 2–3 minutes to set the spider design without melting the web lines.
  9. Let the Spiderweb Pizza Bites rest for 2 minutes on the baking sheet to set the web lines.
  10. Serve hot for the best gooey texture and clear web design.

Notes

  • For larger pizza bases, par-bake them first, then add the web and spiders and finish baking for 2–3 minutes to set the design.
  • Keep the sauce layer thin to prevent the spiderweb from bleeding.
  • For parties, bake in batches and hold finished bites in a 200°F oven for up to 15 minutes to keep them warm without over-melting.
