Savory Italian Chicken Marsala with Rich Mushroom Sauce: An Incredible 7-Step Recipe


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 ounces cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Marsala wine
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides. Dredge each breast in flour, shaking off any excess.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for about 5 minutes until they are browned and tender.
  5. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the Marsala wine, scraping the bottom of the skillet to release any browned bits. Allow the wine to reduce by half, which should take about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Add the chicken broth and return the chicken to the skillet. Simmer for another 5 minutes. Stir in the butter until melted, creating a rich sauce.
