Description

Nashville Hot Chicken is a spicy and crispy dish that’s perfect for any dinner occasion, delivering irresistible flavor and crunch.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons blackened seasoning
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk or whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups peanut oil
  • 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 4 slices white bread
  • 1 cup sliced pickles

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels and set aside.
  2. In one shallow bowl, combine the flour with salt and pepper.
  3. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, and Frank’s Red Hot sauce.
  4. In a third bowl, combine the remaining flour with the blackened seasoning.
  5. Coat each chicken breast in the seasoned flour, then the buttermilk mixture, and again in the seasoned flour.
  6. Heat peanut oil to 325°F.
  7. Fry 2-3 pieces of chicken at a time for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Transfer cooked chicken to a wire rack to drain excess oil.
  9. Whisk together the ingredients for the Nashville Hot Sauce in a bowl.
  10. Brush sauce over the fried chicken or pour it on.
  11. Serve on sliced white bread with pickles.
