Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head Green Cabbage (cut into wedges)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for sautéing)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (or plant-based butter for dairy-free)
  • 1 medium Red Onion (chopped)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup Low-Sodium Chicken Broth (or vegetable broth for vegetarian)
  • 8 ounces Full-Fat Cream Cheese (or vegan cream cheese)
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream (or coconut cream for non-dairy)
  • 1/2 cup Sun-Dried Tomatoes (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Herbs (mix of oregano, thyme, and rosemary)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper (freshly ground to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese (or nutritional yeast for vegan)
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Fresh Parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the green cabbage into eight wedges, keeping the core intact.
  3. Sear the cabbage wedges in a large skillet with olive oil for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Add the chopped red onion and butter to the skillet, cooking until the onion softens, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth and whisk in the cream cheese until smooth.
  7. Add heavy cream, sun-dried tomatoes, dried herbs, salt, and pepper; let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Fold in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted into the sauce.
  9. Nestle the seared cabbage wedges into the sauce, cover, and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Uncover the skillet, baste the cabbage with sauce, and bake for another 15-20 minutes until caramelized and tender.
  11. Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before garnishing with chopped parsley and additional Parmesan if desired.
