- 4 cups Powdered Sugar
- 2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 2 Tablespoons Heavy Cream
- Kit Kat bars (from cupcake quantity), crushed as specified
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Crush half of the Kit Kat bars in a sealed Ziploc bag using a rolling pin.
- Sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Whisk together the egg, buttermilk, hot coffee, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix for about 2 minutes.
- Gently fold the crushed Kit Kat pieces into the batter.
- Divide the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 13 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely before frosting.
- Beat the softened butter until light and creamy, about 2–3 minutes.
- Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream; mix until smooth.
- Incorporate the crushed Kit Kat pieces and whip the frosting for 3–4 minutes.
- Pipe the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes.
- Top each cupcake with quarters of Kit Kat bars and drizzle with fudge sauce if desired.
