- 1 sheet Puff Pastry (Defrosted)
- 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter (Can substitute with coconut oil)
- 4 cups Granny Smith Apples (Peeled, cored, and chopped)
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar (Can substitute with white sugar)
- 2 tablespoons Cornstarch (Can use arrowroot or tapioca starch)
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon (Optional nutmeg can be added)
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt (Enhances sweetness)
- 1 large Egg (For wash)
- 1 tablespoon Water
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 2 tablespoons Heavy Cream (Or use water)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and chopping them into 1/3” wide by 1-2” long pieces. Toss with brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan and add the seasoned apples. Cook for 5 minutes until thick.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into 4 squares. Place a dollop of filling in each square.
- Make an egg wash by whisking together the egg and water. Brush around edges of the pastry.
- Fold the pastry over the filling, crimp edges with a fork to seal.
- Brush tops with egg wash and bake for 18-20 minutes until golden.
- Cool on a wire rack and drizzle with glaze made from powdered sugar and cream.
