Description

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups (340g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 24 blanched almonds
  • 1 small tube red decorating gel (optional)
  • Green food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream the Butter and Sugar: Beat the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add Egg and Vanilla: Mix in the egg and vanilla. Add food coloring if desired.
  3. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture to form dough.
  4. Chill the Dough: Wrap in plastic and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Shape the Fingers: Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Roll dough into thin finger shapes.
  6. Add Details: Press an almond on one end for a nail. Use a knife to create knuckle lines and pinch the center slightly.
  7. Bake: Bake for 20–25 minutes until edges are golden. Cool on a wire rack.
  8. Decorate: Optionally, lift the almond, add red gel underneath, and press the almond back for a “bloody nail” look.
