Description
Tender Garlic Puff Pastry Pinwheels are bite-sized savory treats featuring flaky puff pastry filled with a fragrant blend of melted butter, tender garlic, thyme, and aged cheddar cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 230 g pre-made puff pastry dough (rectangular)
- 50 g unsalted butter
- 1 tender garlic (clove), finely chopped
- 15 g aged cheddar cheese (or Parmesan or Gruyere), grated
- Fresh thyme leaves, to taste
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the unsalted butter, finely chopped tender garlic, fresh thyme leaves, and a pinch of salt. Warm this mixture in the microwave for about 30 seconds until melted and fragrant.
- Unroll the rectangular puff pastry dough onto a clean surface. Using a brush, evenly spread the aromatic melted butter mixture over the entire surface, reserving a little to brush later.
- Grate the aged cheddar cheese evenly over the buttered pastry, distributing it across the dough.
- Starting from the longest side, tightly roll the puff pastry into a big log shape until fully rolled.
- Using a sharp knife, carefully slice the rolled dough into 1 cm thick rounds, about the size of a small finger. This should yield approximately 20 pinwheels.
- Place each pinwheel on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, spaced slightly apart. Brush the tops with the remaining aromatic butter mixture.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Bake the pinwheels for about 10 minutes or until they puff up and turn golden brown.
