Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place potatoes and garlic in a large pot. Cover with cold water, add salt, bring to a boil, then simmer 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
  2. Drain potatoes and let them sit for 2–3 minutes to release excess steam.
  3. Return to pot, add butter, sour cream, and milk. Mash until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm.
