- 3 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 5–6 garlic cloves, peeled
- Salt, to taste
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk (whole or 2%)
- Black pepper, to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Place potatoes and garlic in a large pot. Cover with cold water, add salt, bring to a boil, then simmer 15–20 minutes until fork-tender.
- Drain potatoes and let them sit for 2–3 minutes to release excess steam.
- Return to pot, add butter, sour cream, and milk. Mash until smooth and creamy.
- Add salt and black pepper to taste.
- Transfer to a serving bowl, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm.
