Description

Deviled Egg Christmas Trees are a festive appetizer where classic deviled eggs are transformed into edible Christmas trees. The creamy yolk filling is tinted green and piped into a tree shape, then decorated with colorful garnishes for a holiday look.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon lemon or lime juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh dill or parsley sprigs, for decoration
  • Diced red bell pepper or cherry tomato, for ornaments
  • Paprika or colored sprinkles, optional

Instructions

  1. Boil the eggs: Place eggs in a saucepan, cover with cold water, bring to a boil, simmer for 10 minutes, then cool in an ice bath.
  2. Peel the eggs: Gently tap and peel eggs under running water.
  3. Halve and remove yolks: Slice eggs lengthwise, remove yolks into a bowl, and arrange whites on a platter.
  4. Make the filling: Mash yolks, then mix with avocado, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth and green.
  5. Pipe the filling: Spoon the mixture into a piping bag with a star tip and pipe into egg white halves to create a Christmas tree shape.
  6. Decorate the trees: Garnish with diced red bell pepper or cherry tomato for ornaments and a dill or parsley sprig for a topper. Dust with paprika if desired.
  7. Chill before serving: Refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the filling to set.

Notes

  • Use ripe avocado for a creamy texture and natural green color.
  • Add lemon juice to prevent the avocado from browning.
  • Older eggs are easier to peel.
  • Store filling and egg white halves separately if making ahead, and assemble just before serving.
