Description
This indulgent Crème Brûlée French Toast combines the rich flavors of classic crème brûlée with the comfort of French toast, making it a must-try for brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf Brioche or Challah Bread
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 cup Whole Milk
- 1/2 cup Heavy Cream
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar (for caramelizing on top)
Instructions
- Cut your brioche or challah bread into 1-inch thick slices. Arrange them snugly in a greased baking dish, allowing for even soaking.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until fully combined.
- Pour the custard evenly over the bread slices. Gently press down on the slices to ensure they soak in the custard. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) so it’s hot and ready for baking.
- Remove the dish from the refrigerator and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown with a set center.
- Once baked, sprinkle an even layer of granulated sugar over the French toast. Caramelize the sugar using a kitchen torch or under the broiler until golden brown.
- Allow the French toast to cool slightly before slicing. Serve topped with fresh berries, powdered sugar, and a drizzle of maple syrup.
