Description
Creamy Baked Onions with Asiago Cheese: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large sweet onions
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Asiago cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
- Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel the onions and slice them in half. Remove the core, creating a small well in each half.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion halves cut-side down and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they begin to soften.
- In a bowl, combine heavy cream, grated Asiago cheese, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and thyme. Stir until well mixed.
- Place the sautéed onion halves in a baking dish. Pour the cream and cheese mixture into the wells of the onions, filling them generously.
- If using, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top of the filled onions for added texture and crunch.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
- Transfer to a serving platter and enjoy the rich, creamy goodness!
