Description

Creamy Baked Onions with Asiago Cheese: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large sweet onions
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Asiago cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel the onions and slice them in half. Remove the core, creating a small well in each half.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion halves cut-side down and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until they begin to soften.
  4. In a bowl, combine heavy cream, grated Asiago cheese, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and thyme. Stir until well mixed.
  5. Place the sautéed onion halves in a baking dish. Pour the cream and cheese mixture into the wells of the onions, filling them generously.
  6. If using, sprinkle breadcrumbs over the top of the filled onions for added texture and crunch.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  8. Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
  9. Transfer to a serving platter and enjoy the rich, creamy goodness!
