Description

This chicken kofta with garlic yogurt sauce is a quick, high-protein Mediterranean-inspired meal with tender, spiced ground chicken koftas served alongside a cooling, creamy garlic lemon yogurt sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 small onion, finely grated or minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or grated
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tsp olive oil (optional drizzle)
  • Pita bread or flatbread
  • Sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions
  • Chopped lettuce or greens
  • Cooked rice or quinoa

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground chicken, onion, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon (optional), salt, and pepper. Mix gently just until combined.
  2. Divide into 8–10 portions and shape into oval patties/logs (or skewer for grilling). Chill 10–15 minutes to firm.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook koftas in batches 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through (165°F). (Or bake at 400°F for 15–20 minutes, or grill over medium heat.)
  4. Stir together Greek yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, and salt. Drizzle with olive oil if desired. Chill until serving.
  5. Serve koftas with garlic yogurt sauce and optional pita, veggies, greens, rice, or quinoa.
