Description
The Best Homemade Bread Pudding: An Amazing Ultimate Recipe
Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups day-old bread, cubed (French bread or brioche works well)
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
- Place the cubed bread in a large bowl. If desired, add raisins or chocolate chips, and toss to combine.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the wet mixture over the cubed bread. Gently stir to ensure all bread pieces are soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
- Pour the soaked bread mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Once baked, remove the pudding from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
- Add a drizzle of caramel or a scoop of ice cream for extra flavor.
