Description

The Best Homemade Bread Pudding: An Amazing Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups day-old bread, cubed (French bread or brioche works well)
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, for greasing the baking dish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  2. Place the cubed bread in a large bowl. If desired, add raisins or chocolate chips, and toss to combine.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
  4. Pour the wet mixture over the cubed bread. Gently stir to ensure all bread pieces are soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes to absorb the liquid.
  5. Pour the soaked bread mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  7. Once baked, remove the pudding from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
