Description

Easy Brazilian Fish Stew: An Incredible Ultimate Recipe

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) firm white fish fillets (e.g., cod, tilapia)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (red or yellow)
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup vegetable or fish broth
  • 1 can (14 oz) coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut the fish fillets into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
  4. Stir in the chopped bell pepper and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the diced tomatoes (with juices) to the pot, mixing well.
  6. Add the vegetable or fish broth and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  7. Pour in the coconut milk and stir until combined.
  8. Add lime juice, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir well to incorporate the spices.
  9. Gently add the fish pieces to the pot, ensuring they are submerged in the broth.
  10. Allow the stew to simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.
  11. Remove from heat, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve with lime wedges on the side.
