Description

Basil Chicken with Coconut Curry Sauce is a flavorful dish that combines tender chicken with a rich coconut curry sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons red curry paste
  • 1 can (400 ml) coconut milk
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, garlic, and ginger to the skillet. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the onion is translucent.
  3. Add the sliced chicken to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is browned and cooked through.
  4. Stir in the red curry paste and cook for another 2 minutes to release its flavors.
  5. Slowly add the coconut milk to the skillet, stirring to combine. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  6. Add soy sauce, lime juice, salt, and pepper. Allow the sauce to simmer for an additional 5 minutes to thicken slightly.
  7. Finally, stir in the chopped basil leaves and let them wilt in the sauce for about 1 minute before removing from heat.

Notes

  • This dish pairs well with rice or noodles.
  • Adjust the spice level by adding more or less curry paste.
  • Fresh basil enhances the flavor, so use as much as you prefer.
